Photo Essay... Back >>>
For my photo essay I decided to travel to Cardiff. It is one of my most favourite places to visit, and I feel that the Bay especially is absolutely beautiful. It's impressive architectural developments, cultural buildings and tourist areas provide a wealth of things to photograph and I've spent a lot of time up there just wondering about with my camera.
With my chosen photo essay pieces, I aim to take you, the viewer, on a walk down the Roald Dahl Plass and along the Bay front with me, focusing on the best and most intriguing areas along the way.
We start off at the Wales Millennium Centre, a world famous Arts centre built (and opened fully in 2009) to reflect true Welsh Culture and end up down on the docks viewing 'Ianto's Shrine' a fan-made memorial to a character from the BBC scifi 'Torchwood' that began in 2009 after the character was killed off, despite writers of Torchwood promising future character development.
My main inspiration for my photos comes from my fascination and love of Henri Cartier-Bresson's theory of 'The Decisive Moment', which is something I've studied since GCSE level and always adored, and the work of Martin Parr in the way that he captures such amazing images of provincial and suburban life.
